OSHAMAN Gives High Marks to New Self-adhesive, Disposable Eyewear

By: Mike Rubell, the OSHAMAN

Recently something unique came across my desk that I'm compelled to share with you—self-adhesive, disposable eye protection. My first thoughts were, 'hey this is pretty cool,' and as soon as I tried them on I realized that SharkLids EyeGear, the makers of this new product, have hit on something that is sorely needed in industry; convenient, disposable eye protection. Having tried the product, I can attest to the comfort, convenience and protection afforded by their products. SharkLids offers a novel approach to eye protection that I feel has very broad applications across many industies where a convenience eye shield is required. They're comfortable and offer a sound alternative to other eyewear options. This is a neat concept, since there is no frame, they're extremely comfortable, peripheral vision is totally unobstructed and, after use, you simply toss them into your recylcling bin—very convenient.

I spoke with Michael Bleau, SharkLids executive vice president and the inventor of this approach to eyewear and he shared that they are learning from consumers that many eye protection products available are not well liked; these products are either too large to carry, fog easily, get scratched, are cumbersome and are uncomfortable. So it seems that many people opt to forego
wearing any protective eyewear or they rely on their prescription eyewear alone, which doesn't provide adequate surface area and peripheral coverage. SharkLids' products offers a comfortable, convenient alternative that is a great compliment to a personal protective equipment (PPE) strategy.

While SharkLids are not appropriate for applications requiring protection against high impact, I feel these are great for various PPE kits and I give these products high marks for the multitude of applications where they're a perfect fit.
